Sound Wall
Sound walls are backed by the science of reading research, and the use of a sound wall in a classroom helps lead to skilled reading. This sound wall includes posters for the 44 sounds in the English language (phonemes) as well as cards representing the different ways those sounds can be spelled (graphemes).

Each phoneme poster (5.5" x 8.5") includes an image of the mouth articulation. Below the image is the phoneme, and below the phoneme are common graphemes for the sound. Phoneme cards for consonant sounds are color-coded to represent the manner of articulation (stops, nasals, fricatives, affricates, glides, and liquids), Each grapheme card (5.5" x 3") includes the grapheme, a keyword image, and a keyword phrase.

This product also comes with a downloadable teaching guide to help teachers maximize their instruction. The teaching guide includes:
  • scripts to teach the oral articulation for each sound, and corrective feedback for each sound
  • tips for how to display a sound wall
  • definitions for important terms when it comes to teaching sounds
  • a list of 44 phonemes and their common graphemes

Testimonials

Laprea Education has transformed my reading intervention sessions! The digital platform is fantastic for student independence, allowing them to record themselves and practice fluency at home. I especially love how well these readers align with the UFLI program. We’ve seen a massive boost in student confidence and parent engagement this year. Whether using the digital licenses or the physical books, the materials are accessible and effective. Highly recommend for any educator working in high-needs environments!

My dyslexic son is LOVING these. They are the only chapter books he will read, and the repetition of the same patterns in each chapter gives him focused practice without drilling.

Just got ours this week and my struggling dyslexic reader was so excited he could read a chapter book and not feel overwhelmed. He devoured the first book night one…a bit robotic for the first read so we are going to do it again and work on pausing and inflection but already very impressed! Love how they highlight certain skills and concepts but don’t feel like a “baby book”. For sure the confidence builder i was hoping for!
